First Blog

Hi, welcome to my first blog on the Pivot Legal LLP website! I thought I’d start by quickly describing why I decided to join Pivot Legal LLP. The main reason was because of the social responsibility that is part of Pivot’s mandate. I strongly support Pivot’s compassion for all clients and community members. Community engagement and integration with all aspects of our society are consistent with my core values and I feel very fortunate to be working with people who are dedicated and energized.

What do I bring to Pivot? There are already many amazing lawyers here, but I bring a focus in an area that was not covered before I began – wills, estate planning and elder law. Even the best intentioned children or parents can get into challenges and my hope is to help prevent problems from occurring. Elder law has a wide range of issues to review and consider in the protection for all the family members, not just the aging adult. Helping to ensure that everyone is on the same page is the first step to harmony during the more vulnerable years.

The connection between Pivot Legal Society and Pivot Legal LLP is the potential integration of traditional law with the progressive movement supporting the community. What we, as lawyers, bring to Pivot Legal LLP is the traditional practice of law while supporting the special interests of some of our marginalized community members.  As Pivot Legal LLP is the only social enterprise law firm in British Columbia, we have a great opportunity to be models for all industries, and most particularly, law firms.

Thanks for reading my first blog post – I will try to update it regularly. If you have anything you would like me to discuss, please contact me. I encourage you to read the blog entries from the other lawyers working here at Pivot Legal LLP.
