A national feminist group for decriminalization
FIRST is a national feminist group advocating for the safety and human rights of sex industry workers. Based in Vancouver, FIRST was formed in November 2007 and now has 150 members across the country.
FIRST is guided by the fundamental principle that sex workers should have equal benefit of the human rights protections that all other Canadians enjoy. Our major priority is to work for the decriminalization of adult sex work because we believe that the Canada’s prostitution laws strongly contribute to much of the violence and exploitation in the sex work industry. You can find our Position Statement on sex work below. It is also available on our website: www.firstadvocates.org/
Membership is free and includes a listserv with regular updates on news, issues, events, and FIRST activities. As a member, you're more than welcome to work with us to actively promote the rights of sex workers and help repeal the Criminal Code restrictions against prostitution.
